The HSE has commenced prosecutions against three companies and one individual following investigations into a sad fatal collapse of scaffolding that happened in April 2006 and the start of the case will be on 13 February 2009. Just thinking about the enormous time lapse between the occurence and just the start of the court action(s) and all the disruption these sort of matters involve, not to mention the cost of defending the actions in these current financial times ... ...
A long while back in the early part of my career I worked for the mighty Acrow organisation as Chief Engineer in its Formwork Division in Paddington - I am particularly interested in this case as one of the defendants is being prosecuted both as an employer and as the Principal Contractor ... so, it will be interesting for me to see how the CDM issues will be dealt with.
