Constructing Excellence - rise above all the rest!

CDM2007.org has reached the finals of the prestigious London and South East Constructing Excellence Awards for the second time in its history, this time currently winning a hat-trick of nominations:

  • Leadership & People Development
  • Client of the year
  • Health & Safety

The first time CDM2007.org was entered into the Constructing Excellence selection was in 2007 which was the launch year when the project first went live on the internet to deliver the UK's first unique online training to teach the duty holders about their statutory duties to comply with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 - directly after the enactment bringing into existence the new CDM Coordinator into the industry's professionals.

In 2007 the team at CDM2007.org won both the prestigeous London and South East Constructing Excellence Award and then went on to win the National CE Award later that same year!   Clearly, the industry recognised that CDM2007.org had created something rather special ~ a true 'cut above the rest' ...

Now, in 2011, and in tough times for the industry, CDM2007.org again shows the same commitment to rise above the rest!

The path to stay ahead of the game and above the rest takes real focus and effort.   For the CDM2007.org project that focus actually started much earlier in the creative professional ideas and inventive mind of David Jones from a time at the start of the CDM regulations in 1995 even before he joined the London Borough of Bromley and then managed its planned maintenance and capital works teams of multi-disciplined professional officers.

Towards the end of the 1990's David Jones was increasingly aware of the need to address the corporate teams in public services with providing them with a level of unified training across the UK.   In February 2000 David Jones was managing the construction team at Hillingdon Council and, with came together with Tony Baker, author of the RICS No.1 best selling book 'CDM 2000 - a guide for clients and their advisors' to arrange the UK's very first national conference for public services which was held in the conference suite at the award-winning Hillingdon Civic Centre bringing together over two hundred delegates representing more than fifty local authorities across the UK ~ the rest is history and, LAIG-England was born [Local Authority Interest Group] which David Jones was elected to Chair and this eventually evolved into CDM2007.org online!

"well, that's a brief synopsis of the journey I've been on with the CDM2007.org project to this point ... " says David Jones ...

"along the way of Constructing Excellence I've met others and I'm really proud to see Directline Structures have also reached the finals of the prestigious London and South East Constructing Excellence Awards for the second year running, winning a hat-trick of nominations too
Directline Structures beat a record number of entries to make the short list in the SME Award, The Legacy Award-Sustainability and the Value Award categories for its outstanding sports hall project at Seaford Head Community College in East  Sussex.

David Jones, Editor-in-Chief of CDM2007.org is proud to have worked with Directline Structures on a number of interesting design projects during his time at Bromley.   Duncan Murray, MD of Directline assisted David and bringing his special expertise and engineering excellence to look at several interesting newbuild projects including an idea to create a building academy and another project to create a commercial scale bio-diesel plant to convert used cooking oil [UCO] to be collected from six south London councils and then turn it into a green fuel for London transport use.   Some background info on that project called 'BISTRO' ~ meaning 'Biodiesel Initiative for Sustainable Transport from Recycled Oil' can be found on the following link:

David Jones adds:

"although the bio-diesel project did not progress at the time beyond the design stage for a number of reasons (another story!), ~ it would still be a great project to do somewhere and, think what could have been the financial success with the retail price of diesel fuel now had that gone ahead ?!?!"

"congratulations to Directline Structures in Constructing Excellence!"

I'm really eonyjing the design and layout of your website. It's a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more pleasant for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a designer to create your theme? Fantastic work!
