CDM Award ~ National QCF qualification

On-line training is a ‘love-hate relationship’ says Steve Dalby, the Special Projects manager on the Executive Team of the CDM2007.org project he has been involved with over the last 4 years.   Steve describes the dedicated CDM2007.org team as a small company where everyone does lots of jobs.   Steve is no exception with responsibility for the Management of the business, the Marketing and PR decisions as well as the Web site development.

On his own personal blog at www.sei-is.be Steve explains how he brought his expertise into the team to define the platform, design and manage the business for the first few years before last year’s recession throttled back the project to ensure it survived until the construction industry revived and is staying with the project supporting it as required during these lean years.

Steve explains:

“you either can train from a computer or you cannot and during the design stage we ensured that we understood the customer and supported the teaching online”

“success was receiving awards from the industry and as we plan the emergence from the last 2 years of troubles a very cool decision was made recently … “

In 2007 when CDM2007.org was first switched and went live on the internet at the two day launch conference in Bromley with support from senior HSE officers and leading figures in industry, that same year the project won major acclaim and received the Constructing Excellence Award both at regional level in London and the South-East of England.

Since its launch the CDM2007.org website portal has delivered thousands of hours of online training and continues to support a growing community but the benefits are seen most are the customers that Blend…

David Jones, CDM2007.org Editor-in-Chief and its creative author also uses his special expertise and communication skills to deliver blended training and has made some remarkable success with some of the customers by taking a range of the CDM training out to them at their own venue locations.

The venue training that David delivers is managed by Rook Systems from www.Rooksys.com using the special VIP standard of service under the control of Phil Saville, Sales and Account Manager of CDM2007.org.

Steve further explains:

“whilst this method of teaching the on-line course in a classroom environment was proving successful CDM2007.org wanted to consolidate and stay pure online …

“and then the very cool decision was made to accredit Rooksys.com the rights to train our material in a classroom and to ensure a smooth transition”

Building upon that consolidated strength as CDM2007.org provide the online platform for the new CDM Award which is now the new National QCF Award for professionals across the UK issued by the ProQual Awarding Body to provide the Construction Industry with the proper means for CDM-Cs and Principal Contractors to be properly qualified.   David Jones will work with Rook Systems to take the new CDM Award as a taught course across the UK.

David Jones commented:

“the CDM Award now included in the UK’s National QCF database clearly marks a new milestone in the development of knowledge and learning along the path of true competence in building for safety in the construction industry”

CDM2007.org were short listed in the Constructing Excellence Awards in three categories ~

  • Leadership & People Development
  • Client of the Year
  • Health & Safety

CDM2007.org received the highest accolade from the Constructing Excellence panel of judges when they presented the Leadership & People Development Award 2011 to the team.

David Jones commented further:

“for me, the three categories of the Constructing Excellence short listing speaks volumes for the great achievement of bringing the new CDM Award onto the QCF National database”

“I am now looking to the future challenges ahead in working with Rook Systems to develop the venue training to assist professionals around the UK to gain this real and meaningful qualification … “

The new CDM Award will shortly be launched onto the CDM2007.org platform and Rook Systems will be providing taught sessions across the UK to commence in 2012.
