CDM2007.ORG DELIVERS E-LEARNING
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
CDM2007.org was developed by London Borough of Bromley to provide the tools necessary for construction personnel to meet the government and industry standards redefined by the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2007 (CDM2007). It delivers comprehensive modular training and detailed support materials through a dedicated website aimed primarily at local authorities and public service organisations.
Why was the CDM2007.org portal launched?
The CDM2007 Regulations require all duty holders to be competent to undertake their legal duty and they need to be able to provide proof of this. There is no professional body addressing the needs of the corporate ‘legal person’ undertaking construction related operations.
What are the benefits?
Through taking part in the training and keeping that training up to date, organisations will have the means to gain the necessary level of knowledge and understanding for their teams through an accredited on-line e-learning process and be able to register the training to prove they are competent as the law requires. Being part of the CDM2007.org scheme keeps organisations in touch with a unified and accredited pool of knowledge and practice accepted by the Health & Safety Executive.
Who is using it?
CDM2007.org is already in use by a growing number of local authorities, and has most recently been rolled out at Northumberland County Council and Poole Housing Partnership. A major bespoke modular training course has also been developed for council staff engineers at all levels across London with responsibility to control, design and manage the borough highways.

Notes to Editors:
CDM2007.org background
In anticipation of the release of the CDM 2007 Regulations, London Borough of Bromley built a new central e-learning portal and developed essential modular on-line CDM2007 training. This was launched on 31 May 2007.
The CDM2007.org project provides essential unified on-line modular CDM training available to all public service organisations and local authorities across the UK. The training addresses the need to provide credible proof of competence, as the new CDM2007 Regulations and Corporate Manslaughter & Corporate Homicide Act 2007 require. It will enable those who undertake the training and who pass the tests to have the necessary tools to prove they are competent to discharge their lawful duties. Under the regulations particular importance is attached to the new statutory role of the CDM Coordinator, and the three key areas that prove competency: job experiences, the work being completed and continued professional development.
Longer term The CDM2007.org project aims to establish a joined-up CDM Community to share experience and raise the culture of health and safety thereby reducing fatalities and injuries within the building and construction industries and bringing about safer communities.
The project started when the senior management team at Bromley approached David Jones, Planned Maintenance Team Manager, to provide in-house training for the local Bromley team. It was realised that by creating a modular training course it would also meet the requirements for all other local authorities and other public service organisations.
By them sharing the CDM2007 modular training to other public service organisations across the Internet using an E-Learning Portal, this would assist the whole of the public sector
